Uzbekistan is the budget destination of Central Asia. Apart from the silly currency ($1 = 2200 Som, and the largest bill is 1000 Som), prices are also quite low for just about any of the goods or services a budget traveler will be partaking of.
Even with the occasional nice meal and the lack of hostels, I got by on around $25 per day. The visa cost ($140) for Americans is quite high, but for most other nationalities the price is far less.
Bargaining is pretty common in Uzbekistan, so make sure to ask for a “special price” on just about everything you buy!
