Guangdong Province

If Shenzhen was homebase, the rest of Guangdong province was the easiest way to get out of town for a few days.  I didn’t take nearly as many of these trips as I could (should) have, but had a good experience with all the ones I managed.

I'm a sucker for a good picture with flags in it.
Zhuhai islands.
I still love this photo, almost two years later.

Metaphoto in Zhaoqing. Waterfall win.
Does this have the "Old China" feel I was going for?
Zhaoqing lake ferry at Dinghu Mountain.
These rooms are in temples all over China. They're pretty cool, but a little crepy sometimes.
Golden Arhats in Dinghu Mountain temple. Zhaoqing.
Cool guy named Zhou. We chatted for a while after this picture.
Zhaoqing city wall.
Oh, China pollution. Especially bad in Guangdong, as always.
Seven Star Crags park, Zhaoqing.
Moo.
Kaiping city dialou towers.
These colorful... things... were actually marking graves. But they made a nice foreground, so i coopted them.
The Kaiping dialou towers were built by emigrants returning from overseas (largely the US) with their fortunes.
This guy was very against having his picture taken. Sorry, guy.
Many of the dialou have fallen into disrepair, but this World Heritage listed architecture is scattered all (and only) throughtout the countryside surrounding the city of Kaiping.
I really wish I had the vocabulary to talk to these women and ask how much they made, where the jeans were coming from and going to, etc. Alas.
Blue jean seamstresses. Back-alleys of Kaiping city.
