Inks Lake State Park: Hiking the Devil’s Waterhole

Of one of my last few days of a Christmas visit to the US, after weeks of delicious food and lazy days, I finally managed to explore a bit of the Texas Hill Country-side near the northern suburbs of Austin where my family have lived for years.

Of particular beauty was the randomly-found Inks Lake State Park, and its impressively named and framed Devil’s Waterhole.

Pretty during our first visit, the area was even better during the second as the sun was going down over what a local fisherman described as a popular Spring Break hangout.

Even with record lows for rainfall and terrible wild fires in the area, this Texas State Park managed to look lush at times in both vegetation and wildlife.

Luckily for me my aunt and uncle just moved down the road from here, so I should be able to visit anytime I make it back to the US!
