Istanbul Night Photography:
A Traveller’s Guide

Bosphorus Pano
Bosporus and Sultanahmet as the sun sets.

Some cities take on a whole new feel when the sun goes down. Ulan Baatur seems a bit more dangerous, HK more rowdy, and in Baku the temperature finally becomes tolerable. Istanbul, though, makes perhaps my favorite transformation. The lights come on in Sultanahmet, the crowds go home, and even MORE fresh seafood hits the street stalls. Despite the lovely common area in the Agora Guesthouse, I only rarely bond with other travelers there because dusk often sees me heading back to the streets for even more photos.

These are a few of my favorites:

Every time I write a post about this beautiful city, I ask myself the same question: “When am I going to get around to living here?”
