Though the goal of the trip was clearly Six Flags, little sister and I also made a trip to San Antonio over the summer and managed to hit some of the tourist sites.
The Alamo, while far smaller than I had expected, was a pretty novel and interesting place to visit just for its importance in Texas history.
Further out of town, another Spanish mission had a much more historic (and less touristed) feel at Mission Concepcion. Though we didn’t get to the rest of the Mission Trail, I’m sure they will wait patiently for my eventual return to San Antonio.
And of course, the Riverwalk district that anchors the downtown area with all sorts of open spaces and restaurants right on the San Antonio river.
Overall San Antonio was a lot more interesting than I’d expected, and I look forward to the chance to go back and experience it in a bit deeper than a one night stay.
